Gear Up

The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) provides students at participating middle schools throughout the state of California an Educational Trust Award (ETA) of $2,000 held in a Scholarshare 529 interest-bearing account.

Once students graduate from high school, students have six years access to those funds. Funds may be used to pay for qualifying educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, supplies, and other related expenses.

In February 2023, CareerConfidence delivered a presentation to high school seniors participating in their districts Gear Up program:

  1. "Crafting a Resume": This presentation outlined how to craft a strong resume. It defined a resume and its purpose, emphasized the importance of showcasing skills, experience, and accomplishments through concise and impactful bullet points. It provided a framework for organizing resume sections, including contact information, education, awards, activities, and experience, while highlighting the significance of using action verbs and quantifiable achievements.
