SoLa Foundation & SoLa Impact
The SoLa Foundation empowers South LA residents by providing educational opportunities, fostering economic mobility, and supporting community development. Through programs like skills-based technology training and career development initiatives, they equip underinvested communities with the tools and resources needed to succeed in today's competitive job market.
In July 2024, CareerConfidence delivered two presentations to a group of high school seniors preparing for post-secondary education:
"I'm College Ready": This presentation guided students through the complexities of the US college system, covering community colleges, UC, and CSU systems. I emphasized the importance of understanding individual goals and selecting the most suitable educational path. The session included an overview of the application process and required materials, and students began drafting resumes and essays.
"Career Planning & Your Future: A Roadmap to Success": This presentation focused on the critical step of academic major selection. We explored career exploration and its connection to chosen majors, emphasizing the importance of developing a strong skillset. Students learned how to gain valuable experience through part-time jobs, internships, and other on-campus and off-campus opportunities.
